Newberry is a small but popular town just west of Gainesville that draws in those who want a taste of country life. 

 

Initially springing up out of a 19th-century mining town, Newberry today is a lovely middle-class city primarily involved in the agriculture industry, particularly watermelons.

 

Newberry has locally-owned dining and shopping options, as well as a small historic downtown area.

 

Newberry has recently built a new sports tourism destination, Easton Newberry Archery Center, which is a public Olympics training facility.

 

The town also has annual events such as the Watermelon Festival and the Newberry Festival of Lights and Christmas Parade.
